The Taxation Awards made their debut in 2000 and quickly became recognised as marks of excellence within the tax sector. The prestigious prizes are now much sought-after by UK tax professionals, whether they work for multinational companies or practice as independent advisers. From a modest beginning, the Taxation Awards have grown with every passing year and are now a major event in the tax industry’s annual calendar. The shortlist of the most recent ceremony - held in May 2008 - boasted more teams from different firms and companies than ever before. Categories include Best General Tax Practice, Tax Writer of the Year, Best VAT Team, Best Tax Software and Best International Tax Team. There are also special prizes of Tax Lawyer of the Year, Tax Personality of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement. The chance to enter next year’s prize-giving will be announced this autumn on this website and Taxation.co.uk. Anyone within the profession can put themselves, their colleagues or their employers forward for nomination. Past winners include Geoff and Diana Jones (the winners of the landmark Arctic Systems case), HMRC acting chairman Dave Hartnett, and a multitude of companies both large and small. The chance to enter next year’s prize-giving will be announced this autumn on this website and Taxation.co.uk, the site of Taxation, the LexisNexis title that organises the awards. For more than 80 years, Taxation has been the UK's leading authority on tax law, practice and administration. Subscribe now to receive your own weekly copy of Taxation magazine and full access to Taxation.co.uk - both of which offer expert news, analysis, commentary, advice and much more. |
